FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION/ FOREIGN LANGUAGES: Department of Global Studies, Division of Foundational Studies and Liberal Arts and Sciences (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated start date: September, 2015. Position contingent on available funding.
A successful candidate should be able to teach introductory and intermediate levels of Spanish and French, advise students, maintain office hours, participate in college service, and contribute to the enhancement of the curriculum including the development of online and/or hybrid courses. In addition, she or he will be expected to continue the individual instruction model developed by the department.
A Masters Degree in Spanish or French, or in Applied Linguistics, and college level teaching experience are required. Candidate must demonstrate: ability to teach within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment; and sensitivity to academically disadvantaged students. The applicant must possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate his/her ability and willingness to be involved in curriculum design and professional development in the area of foreign languages. The applicant should be experienced with the use of technology in the classroom. She or he should be fluent or proficient in French and Spanish.
Community college teaching experience; ability to teach ESL; familiarity with the cultures of Spanish - and French-speaking countries.
Salary: Anticipated starting salary range is $42,921.00 - $65,000.00 per academic year; complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
