PART-TIME FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR: (Financial Aid/Enrollment Services) 22.5 hours per week on the Lawrence Campus. The schedule for this position is Monday and Wednesday from 11:00AM - 7:00PM and Friday from 9:00AM - 5:00PM. This schedule is based on the needs of the office and could change. This position will require Saturdays and late evenings during peak enrollment periods for the fall and spring semesters as well as for financial aid presentations for Open Houses and Financial Aid Nights. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide financial aid counseling to current and prospective students as well as their families in an environment that is committed to providing exceptional service. This position will also provide customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public through in-person, phone, and email counseling. The Financial Aid Counselor will provide services to students on the Lawrence Campus and is expected to meet with students to review and assist with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This position will also serve as back-up support to our Financial Aid Front Desk.
This position will be responsible for processing financial aid to include performing needs analysis, resolving student eligibility issues and conflicting data, performing file review and verification, make professional judgment decisions regarding student aid eligibility, determine eligibility for financial aid and process awards, including all types of student loans, federal, state and institutional aid, and adjusting aid including resolving over-awards. Incumbents in this position will interact with specific outside agencies to facilitate the student eligibility process and he/she is accountable for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies and procedures.
Two years of experience working in a Financial Aid Office, Bachelor's Degree, and strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and programs are all required. Must be self-motivated; have the ability to problem solve; be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the community and have a commitment to customer service; able to work in fast pace team enviroment. Strong time management skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
SCT Banner Student Information Systems experience preferred. Experience working in community college and One-Stop Enrollment Services setting preferred. Strong preference for bi-lingual (Spanish/English) candidate in order to best serve the needs of the College's Hispanic/Latino population on the Lawrence Campus.
SALARY: Hourly rate of $26.40 with pro-rated benefits.
