Detailed Job Description

The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Metropolitan State University of Denver, is seeking applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science beginning August 2015


Teach 12 hours per semester of undergraduate courses in an ABET-accredited computer science program, including evenings on a regular basis; advise students; participate in course and program development; pursue scholarly and professional activities appropriate for the undergraduate teaching mission of the University; perform university and professional service; work cooperatively with diverse groups; perform other duties as assigned by the chair; teach a broad range of lower and upper division undergraduate computer science courses; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Computer Science or related field completed by August 1, 2015.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, experience teaching computer science at the undergraduate level with evidence of effective teaching, evidence of potential for continued scholarly activity, and experience in recruitment and/or retention of students from underrepresented groups.

Preference will be given to those able to teach Software Engineering or hardware-related (Machine Organization, Operating Systems, Embedded Computing, etc.) courses. Preference will also be given to candidates with large-project or industrial experience.
