Under the direction of the Manager of HVAC Programming, the Specialist of HVAC Programming will: be responsible for the operations of the Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Building Management System and the Central Plan; evaluate the university's needs; make changes to the existing programs used to control HVAC equipment; retrofit outdated controls including the design of replacement hardware and software.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
-Maintain records for backing up the system, energy consumption, and work orders as well as organize data on energy consumption run times and trend and work/response logs.
-Maintain components related to the heating ventilating and air conditioning needs of all campus buildings.
-Build, Install, and maintain the computerized energy management system, hardware, and software including computer, related support electronics, and mechanical interfaces to support HVAC needs and requirements.
-Troubleshoot existing programming and the hardware on all HVAC equipment checking for efficient operation and energy usage.
-Modify, when needed, a variety of systems and sub systems, involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systems, plus the interfacing with computerized energy management system
-Maintain electrical automation and controls including timers, controllers, clocks, interfaces, refrigeration, water conditioners etc.
-Create drawings or plans for HVAC modifications, and install components that require controls programming and linkage to the campus central control system.
-Coordinate scheduling needs and start times of the HVAC Computer Systems to control the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning needs of both the main campus and other campus buildings (Wasatch, Fire Science, Airport?) all scheduling to operating parameters within energy management goals.
-Schedule on-off times of HVAC equipment and lighting into system within energy management goals, monitor all equipment related to HVAC.
-Maintain electrical automation, electronic, and pneumatic controls, make adjustments, repairs, replace electronic boards or other components that provide HVAC control functions for the buildings.
-Initiate appropriate actions in emergencies; assist HVAC control specialist; designs systems/sub-systems involving mechanical/electrical systems components; programming computerized energy management computers.
-Operate boilers and assist in maintaining all other types of heating systems.
-Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
