Directs all activities of the IT Support Services department for the College of Technology & Computing. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and evaluates technical support and lab support staff. Oversees development, operation and maintenance of all computing labs, databases, servers, network infrastructure, web sites and course-specific IT systems. Manages client and server security, redundancy and data protection. Works with academic departments to develop IT solutions in support of curriculum objectives. Manages projects and budgets.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and one year of work experience; OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling five years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in information technology; OR a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience.
Knowledge of latest computing techniques.
Skill in management and leadership techniques.
Interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to oversee the development, administration and maintenance of diverse servers (physical and virtual).
Ability to manage and direct employees in the the college.
Ability to manage budgets.
Ability to think logically and break problems, tasks, and programming into modular steps and to perform problem-solving techniques at a highly detailed level
Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities and requests in a project management fashion and to think clearly in pressure situations.
Ability to train others in server, network and security techniques.
Ability to understand highly technical concepts and communicate with others in a non-technical manner.
Ability to work with University and other IT departments.
