Detailed Job Description
The QRIS Program Director will provide leadership and oversight for the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) program.
Additional Department Summary:
The Program Director will supervise all staff and provide professional development needed to accomplish contract goals, build an electronic resource pool for use by staff and by child development programs, manage the budget, approve purchases, annually submit an inter-agency agreement, spearhead research activities emanating from the program, oversee website and develop policies and procedures. The successful candidate will attend state meetings that focus on the well-being of young children, and when invited, present on quality and best practice. The Program Director will develop and implement marketing plans focusing on the value and benefits of QRIS for several audiences which may include early childhood programs, businesses, parents, the general public, and policy makers. The Program Director shall be an advocate for Alabama Quality STARS to influence policy and legislation. The successful candidate will represent the QRIS Program on a national scale and attend national meetings focusing on QRIS. This person will assure all University of Alabama policies and procedures are followed in administering the program.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Child Development or a closely related field and three years of experience in the field.Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge:
Leadership experience and strong working knowledge of current state and national issues related to the field of Early Childhood Education and Development; excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ph.D. in Child Development or a closely related field and experience working in the field of Child Development is preferred. Experience in research and a strong professional reputation in the field are preferred.Based on Qualifications
