Faculty Position, F39080
Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Biology. In addition the appointee will be a member of VCU Philips Institute for Oral Health Research.
The main focus of this position will be to carry out research in an area related to diseases of the oral cavity. Preference will be given to those who can collaborate with VCU School of Engineering and be able to carry out bioengineering projects related to the oral cavity. The ideal candidate will have leadership potential to bridge the research disciplines in Dentistry and engineering. In addition the appointed candidate must be able to teach pathology to our pre-doctoral DDS students.
Candidates must have a DDS, DMD degree or equivalent, and must be at least Board Eligible for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists. They must also have a PhD and a proven track record in research with the ability to win extra-mural funding from the National Institutes of Health. In addition, candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning and discovery, demonstrate the ability to adapt to change and embrace modern technologies, demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU, and have experience in teaching of clinical and didactic Periodontics as a trainee or faculty member.
