Detailed Job Description

The Director Undergrad Advisement will initiate and oversee activities related to undergraduate students who fall into major categories identified as: Transitional, Transfer, or Exploratory and will be responsible for leading student services actions related to these categories. The Director will also facilitate academic advising, professional development and training and will explore, recommend and implement existing or emerging technology to be used in the academic advising process.

Additional Department Summary:

The Director of Undergraduate Advisement & Student Success is expected to actively promote the value and importance of quality academic advising at the University. The Director is expected to demonstrate outstanding leadership and communication skills, uphold the standards of the University and the advising profession, and act as liaison and consensus-builder between university policy makers, the university community, the colleges, and students.The Director will report to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree and 3 years of experience; or a master's degree or higher and 5 years of experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Familiarity with NACADA advising philosophy, suggested procedures, and recommended practices.Understanding of college student development and academic issues; ability to work with external constituents.Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, collaboration, and supervisory skills.Skilled in organization and coordination of complex projects.Ability to work independently.Ability to interpret and implement university policies and procedures.Familiarity with assessment, data analysis and data management.Commitment to diversity and ability to work with individuals or groups with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD or EdD in Higher Education Leadership,College Student Personnel Services, or Guidance and Counseling or related field is preferred.Supervisory and leadership experience in higher educationExperience in one or more of the following: advising, student recruitment/retention, related student services, teaching in an institution of higher educationPrevious budgetary responsibilitiesParticipation in the NACADA Summer InstituteExperience implementing and managing third-party or home-grown software to support student successPossesses a NACADA Graduate Certificate in Academic Advising in Higher EducationPossesses tolerance for ambiguity61 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 58656.00 Midpoint - $ 85342.44
