UVU PREP Problem Solving Year 3 teacher will manage instructional time to teach problem solving curriculum for one 50 minute class section Monday-Thursday to groups of 25 students aged 14-15 for seven weeks. Curriculum will be provided but will need to be tailored to student needs. A Teaching Assistant will be assigned to each teacher to help with classroom instruction, behavior management, grading assignments, etc.
UVU PREP Problem Solving Year 3 teacher will coordinate hands-on problem-based labs with the Teaching Assistant assigned to support their students learning.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the Summary of Duties. Certain programs may require professional an educator license or extensive specialized industry experience, see preferred qualifications for additional requirements.
Level 3 Utah State Mathematics certification.
Graduation from accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or other related fields and 3 years of experience teaching of working in a related field as determined by the department.
Knowledge of mathematical reasoning, mathematical solutions and ideas.
Knowledge of effective teaching methods and student motivation techniques.
Knowledge of conducting library research, interviews, surveys, and field investigations, incorporating problem solving and reasoning skills.
Skill in leading classroom discussions/activities.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to assess student work according to general instructional standards
Ability to supervise three classes of 25 middle school students.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
