The purpose of this position is to contribute to the professional and educational development of specialty/support/academic advisors, advising administrators, and students. This is done by managing the development, implementation and maintenance of advisement technology solutions; providing outstanding training and development experiences; and by coaching advisors regarding the use of technology and other effective advising practices.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and Accountabilities:
Analyze the needs and manage the development, maintenance and/or purchase, of technology solutions for the UVU advisement program and the Advisor Training and Development department.
Develop training content and deliver/facilitate online and in-person training and development sessions for academic, support, specialty and career advisors/counselors.
Select and develop teaching aids such as manuals, handbooks, demonstration modes, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with other campus departments. Provide support, counsel and coaching for advisors and advising units.
Advise and counsel students regarding their career and academic goals.
Conduct evaluation and assessment of assigned duties and provide timely reports and data regarding student/advisor ratios, the Structured Enrollment program, progress reports, and other areas as assigned.
Represent UVU by regularly attending and presenting at conferences related to academic advising and career counseling, higher education technologies, and training and development.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
