Detailed Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Public Relations, the Social Media & Communications Specialist is responsible for internal and external communications via social and news media outlets. Duties include writing and posting information on the web, social media outlets and inter-campus digital signage; distributing timely information to news media outlets, and monitoring internal and external communications for content, accuracy and appropriateness. Coordinate campus participation in events and programs on campus and in the community.
Responsible for coordinating regional social media presence. Write and post timely news to social media outlets and regional campus web site, and monitor social media for content, accuracy and appropriateness. Write news releases and incorporate review comments from subject experts prior to distribution. Develop and coordinate regional campus events and programs on campus and in the community, including regional expositions and festivals. Manage content, message duration and technical aspects of regional campus digital signage in Hamilton, Middletown and West Chester. Solicit, compile, develop and maintain upcoming event calendars for the regional campuses, in coordination with internal facilities rental and community calendar representatives and cross-referencing campus and community calendars to avoid conflicting events and maximizing attendance. Maintain departmental oversight of budget and spending. Write and maintain fresh news on the regional campus home page. Collect, update and format information for the Regional Academic Planner. Distribute news as appropriate to bulk email lists for students, faculty and staff. Assume backup responsibility for emergency communications during campus closings or delays due to inclement weather or incident. Maintain class cancellation list on the regionals' home page and digital signage during inclement weather but when the campuses remain open for classes. Monitor logo, licensing and trademarking on social media sites. Oversee student workers within Marketing & Public Relations on the Middletown campus. Provide communications support to the Voice of America Learning Center and Greentree Health Science Academy. This position is housed on the Middletown campus but requires a regular presence on the Hamilton campus and VOALC in West Chester.
Bachelor's degree; one year experience in marketing and event promotions via social media and communication. Ability to liaison and coordinate effectively with other academic and administrative departments.
Experience working directly with students and administrators in higher education. Familiarity with technical and digital communications. Thorough understanding of trends and changes in mass communication technology.
