Detailed Job Description
Responsible for Miami University's strategic recruitment plan, school relations, and alumni admissions volunteer program in the Midwest region including Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska and other regions outside of the Midwest as assigned; position is home-based.
Formulate recruitment strategies, plans, and goals for the designated region based on demographic analyses, market research, and other admission data; monitor admission activity in critical markets; prepare statistical reports and analyses; coordinate recruitment activities in the area, to include six to ten weeks of travel with evening and weekend work expected; organization, coordination, and management of on and off-campus recruitment events and counselor programs; develop and maintain the leadership and membership of the Miami University Community Outreach & Recruiting Program (MUCORP) within designated regions and provide training for members; develop working knowledge of Miami University programs, opportunities and policies; communicate information about admission policies and procedures to prospective students, families, guidance counselors, community-based organizations and alumni volunteers; develop and maintain relationships with high school and community college counselors and other school, agency and community officials in designated regions; work with Enrollment Communication to develop and implement targeted, segmented, specific communications strategies; participate in electronic file review; routine travel to Oxford for training and retreat activities; participate in professional organization and professional development activities within the region; other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree; a minimum of two years of experience in progressively responsible positions in admissions; experience with recruitment activities and territory management; current appointment at Miami University; strong working knowledge of the recruitment region; excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing ability; high level of organizational and self-starting skills; ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrated commitment to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds; knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various software applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to lift 30-40 lbs of recruiting materials; valid driver's license and automobile for travel; ability to perform overnight travel.
Master's degree; experience with customer relations databases, Banner, and Microsoft Access; experience working with school counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni volunteers. Familiarity with and working knowledge of Miami's strategic enrollment goals, recruitment initiatives, and admission practices are strongly preferred.
