FULL – TIME DEAN OF TECHNOLOGY, ARTS AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES: Academic and Student Affairs, Haverhill/Lawrence Campus. Non-unit Professional Position. Anticipated start date: July 2015.
The Dean reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. The Dean, along with an Assistant Dean, has responsibility for the quality and administration of nineteen Associate Degree and more than ten Certificate programs in Art, Business, Computer Information Sciences, Computer Technology Networking, Criminal Justice, Deaf Studies, Education, Engineering, Human Services, Performing Arts, and Technology, including all day, evening, summer, and online courses, at all locations. Working in conjunction with approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff members and many DCE instructors, the Dean sets division goals, develops and administers the budget, promotes close ties to the community, and seeks sources of revenue, such as grants.
Primary tasks for the Dean will include fostering academic program development and quality; building synergies between the diverse academic disciplines within the division; managing multiple grants and partnerships with regional employers, government and non-profit entities; and making the division a fun, respectful, supportive, and rewarding place to work.
The Dean shares with the Assistant Dean the responsibility for oversight of program review and accreditation and assuring that students meet learning outcomes. They also are responsible for the day-to-day activities of the division, including attention to contractual provisions, scheduling courses, and hiring and evaluating faculty.
The Dean serves as an active member of the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs’ Leadership Team and participates in college-wide initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Master's Degree in one of the division’s academic disciplines or in Education Administration. Must have at least three years of demonstrated successful experience in academic administration in a college or university, including expertise in program development and review and building relationships in the community. Substantial instructional background in an institution of higher education, including responsibilities beyond teaching, such as curriculum and course development, scheduling of classes, and learning outcomes assessment required. Knowledge of distance education, which can be demonstrated either through experience in online teaching or supervising distance education programs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Energy, flexibility, and organizational skills are critical. Must have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a team and to a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student and faculty population and campus environment as well as a commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.
PREFERENCES: A Doctorate degree in one of the division’s academic disciplines or in Education. Experience in a community college. Experience with the STEM disciplines. Knowledge of alternative learning modalities and emerging education technologies. History of building faculty teams dedicated to increasing access and improving student learning. Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Salary: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
