Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (open rank, dependent upon qualifications) to develop an established program in strategic communication, located in an interdisciplinary, media-centered department and housed in a college of liberal arts.


Teach in area of specialty; advise students; maintain scholarly agenda; program development; service to the university.

Basic Qualifications

PhD by date of appointment. Applicants from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds in the humanities or social sciences, including (but not limited to) public and environmental affairs, health and political communication, rhetoric, advertising, media and cultural studies, informatics, and law, ethics, and journalism. Successful candidate should have a clear scholarly agenda.

For appointment to rank of associate or full professor, require an exceptional record of scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications

Desire: Media production and/or professional experience.
Applicants with Ph.D. in other disciplines (e.g. history, English, sociology) with substantial professional experience in public relations or a related field will be considered.
