Provide individual academic advising for students in the College of Arts and Science and University Studies.
Individual academic advising for students in the College of Arts and Science and University Studies. Advising includes providing accurate and current curricular information, assisting in academic planning and decision-making, providing counsel with regard to academic program changes, providing information with regard to career and professional development of liberal arts students, and referring to appropriate university resources and offices. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, program planning and coordination for specialized groups of students including University Studies, transfer, and prospective students. Other duties as assigned by the Dean or the Assistant Dean.
Master's degree, preferably in higher education, counseling or college student personnel; at least two years of experience in advising or counseling in a university or college setting. Relevant experience gained during a graduate program may also apply.
Demonstrate an understanding of student development theory and an understanding of the purpose and advantages of a liberal arts education; experience in working with diverse student populations; excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking), organization, technological and collaborative skills.
