Detailed Job Description
Academic Advisor to provide individual academic advising and support for students in College of Creative Arts and College of Engineering and Computing.
Supplement one-on-one academic advising to first year students. Assist with new student orientation advising and planning. Assist with academic intervention advising. Communicate advising and policy information to all chief departmental advisors and students. Provide support for faculty advisors in working with students who have difficulties that extend beyond academic issues. Assist and/or support delivery of divisional First-Year Experience (FYE) courses. Undergo required training and refer students as needed. Assist the Assistant Dean with duties as needed.
Master's degree, preferably in higher education, counseling or college student personnel; at least two years of experience in advising or counseling in a university or college setting, which may include experience gained during an educational program; excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking).
Familiarity with engineering and computing and/or the arts; experience in working with diverse student populations including international students; excellent organizational, technological and collaborative skills.
