Detailed Job Description

To assist the Head Football Coach in the administration and operation of the football program.

This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.


Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Football Coach
- Develop and implement a system of initial identification of 3,500 - 5,000 high school prospects annually
- Responsible for assessing the academic and athletic profiles of high school prospects to determine who can succeed within Miami Football and Miami University
- Evaluate the athletic abilities of high school prospects to determine those who can significantly contribute to the athletic competitiveness of Miami Football
- Systematically organize and coordinate ten football coaches' recruiting schedules to cover 35 states annually based by region and by position specific coaches
- Strategize and identify team-related positions based on attrition and team needs annually
- Structure a communications plan for high school coaches, counselors, principals, prospects and the families of prospects
- Maximize correspondence to high school prospects within NCAA guidelines
- Partner with the appropriate private recruiting services to gather data on high school prospects
- Work directly with admissions and enrollment management to identify students who can thrive at Miami University and satisfy NCAA requirements
- Work directly with the compliance and registrar's office staff to assess academic eligibility and coordinate National Letter of Intent documents
- Supervise player evaluations for high school prospects
- Organize a film library for every high school prospect annually with assistant coach assignments
- Monitor compliance for all football staff relative to NCAA policies and procedures
- Oversee the football program's website
- Work closely with financial aid in documenting and offering athletic scholarships
- Work with the director of operations to coordinate all recruiting travel of prospects
- Plan, coordinate and supervise all official campus visits
Plan, coordinate and supervise the annual junior day for high school prospects
- Plan, coordinate and supervise the annual Miami Football Clinic for high school coaches
- Work with the director of operations to supervise all unofficial visits
- Manage the walk-on program including preferred walk-ons and those who are accepted during tryouts

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree
- Experience coaching at the college level, high school level and/or equivalent professional experience
- An understanding of the rules and policies of the NCAA
