Job Responsibilities

Prepares and reconciles the fiscal year budget and integrates the final budget into the financial reporting systems

Updates and monitors expenditures and revised budget

Assists in the development, presentation and administration of the College operating budget, including variance analysis, revenue and expenditure forecasting, and customized development of reports to assist Executive management with their budget reviews

Participates in and completes feasibility studies, process improvements/re-engineering and achieving executive management strategic objectives, benchmarking, strategic planning development and measurement of key performance indicators

Participates as a key member in other organization wide projects

Provides training and/or training support to Program Directors, Budget Unit Leaders, Budget Coordinators and others responsible for budget preparation and administration in such areas as: Banner Finance functionality, report generation, budget analysis, budget preparation, financial proposal development, financial policies and procedures, etc.

Assists, supports and conducts monthly site Budget Meetings to assure an on-going budget review and planning process and to provide a pro-active approach to problem resolution and information sharing whereby end users will ultimately be able to solve problems using their own newly developed skills

Provides information to others involved in preparing and reconciling divisional budgets which includes general operating, restricted and auxiliary

Develops, maintains and assures compliance with budget and accounting policies and procedures

Prepares required budget reports for internal and external entities

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and/or a minimum of five years of accounting or budgeting experience with responsibility in organization-wide budget preparation, administration, and analysis

Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others

Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department

Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of accounting and budgetary theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Possesses intermediate project management skills

Possesses intermediate proficiency with the Banner System (or equivalent program)

Possesses strong organizational and time-management skills

Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively

Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions

Ability to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines in a dynamic environment

Works accurately with great attention to detail

Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships

Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access

Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity

Ability to collaborate, persuade and gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects

Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects

Master’s degree in a related field

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of business, M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends as instructed by supervisor.
