Detailed Job Description
Miami University seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to begin August 2015. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal depending on available funding and job performance.
Expected duties include engaging with students at the undergraduate level (primarily) teaching special education and possibly school psychology courses; assisting the department in course coverage in other core disciplinary areas of educational psychology; and providing departmental, university and professional service.
Earned doctorate in Special Education, School Psychology, Educational Psychology, or closely related fields by date of appointment (for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor), ABD (for appointment as Instructor); have documented record of significant professional background working with individuals with exceptionalities and teaching at the college level; exemplary collaboration and communication skills. Experience or knowledge relevant to teaching courses in one or more of the following areas is required: Education of Individuals with Exceptionalities; Educational Assessment and/or Intervention; Inclusion Practices and Professional Collaboration; Instructional Models and Practices in the Schools.
Expertise in differentiated instruction; possess K-12 teaching or related experience; background in working with diverse P-12 student populations; knowledge of multicultural education experience.

The undergraduate program in Special Education is part of the Department of Educational Psychology at Miami University. The undergraduate program features areas of concentration for those students pursuing either a major or minor in Special Education. Courses in the undergraduate program will likely involve on-campus courses, as will any courses in the School Psychology Program.
