Detailed Job Description

With technical direction, administers and maintains enterprise-level IT systems related to UVU’s reporting environment, which may include network hardware, server hardware, system software, and applications. Assists with the planning, implementation, installation, and configuration of related systems and applications. Along with general maintenance and basic administration of the reporting environment, provides execution of security updates and preventative measures, vendor-supplied updates, and compliance updates to processes and procedures for ongoing management of the systems environment. Solves technical issues, provides problem escalation support as required, and ensures the availability, reliability, stability, and scalability of related systems, which include the following platforms (in order of job priority): Tableau, Argos, Cognos, Crystal Reports, WebFOCUS, and other reporting-related systems. This position does NOT use the aforementioned platforms to write, create, or develop reports for end users.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field OR any combination of relevant education and experience totaling four years.

Preferred Qualifications

This is a career ladder position and will be placed at one of the following levels:

Level I: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field OR any combination of higher education and work experience in IT totaling 4 years.

Level II: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, plus 1 year of experience administering and maintaining enterprise-level IT systems; OR any combination of higher education and work experience in IT totaling 5 years.

Level III: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, plus 3 years of experience administering and maintaining enterprise-level IT systems; OR any combination of higher education and work experience in IT totaling 7 years.

Knowledge

Knowledge of reporting environments is required. Experience with Tableau, Argos, and/or Cognos is highly desired.
Knowledge and in-depth experience with reporting environment systems and their standard applications, services, and processes.
Strong knowledge of Windows OS, preferably 2008 R2 or later, and knowledge in some of the following: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL, XML, MySQL, Linux, Unix, Apache.
Knowledge of TCP/IP and application network protocols, security concepts, OS configuration, anti-virus software, relational database(s).
Knowledge and in-depth experience with troubleshooting hardware and software problems, researching technical issues, and the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems hardware including SCSI, SAS, RAID, and I/O.
Knowledge of various computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, Internet tools, email systems, and performance monitoring tools.

Skills

Skill in performance tuning and network traffic analysis.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong skill in problem solving and analysis, with the ability to be self-motivated and learn quickly.
Skill in writing documentation, capacity planning, systems design, technical training, security audits, and mentoring of junior team members.

Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
On-call availability as needed.

Pay Range

$34,656 to $64,157 annually, DOQ
