Manages the day to day functions relating to creating and developing employer relationships and internship opportunities. Collaborates with employers to initiate and plan internships that will accommodate the needs of students, academic programs and employers. Collaborates with university internship coordinators, faculty and department heads to implement and train on current internship procedures and policies. Counsels individually with students to assess needs and provide assistance in preparing for and locating internships. Supervises assigned employees and manages projects, marketing activities and events to build employer relationships and increase student internship participation.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus three to five years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling at least seven years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus three years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling 7 years.
Knowledge of job placement and career development theory.
Knowledge of employer staffing practices, needs and recruiting methods.
Knowledge of current social, economic, and employment conditions, trends and job placement methods.
Knowledge of basic project and event management practices.
Knowledge of basic career and job search principles and techniques.
Knowledge of basic marketing principles, including creating and facilitating campaigns.
Knowledge of effective use of social media for both marketing and employer relations.
Skill in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), skill in other multimedia software a plus.
Skill in writing and composition skills.
Skill in presentation and public speaking including designing, writing and presenting promotional information to faculty, students, employers and administrators.
Skill in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, decision-making and prioritizing.
Skill in supervising other employees.
Ability to manage several diverse projects simultaneously meeting deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to be self-directed and to complete tasks without supervision.
Ability to work with individuals from multiple authority levels and diverse backgrounds.
Ability to build professional relationships with current and potential employers.
Ability to be creative, innovative, and detail oriented.
