Detailed Job Description

Under close supervision of the Upholsterer II and/or III, this position performs routine work in support of the general repair and upholstery of furniture. This includes, but is not limited to: the repair of furniture structures, the recovering of furniture and the replacement of trim, skirts, and cushions, as well as the use of mathematical, layout, and foam construction skills.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A high school education or GED and have at least one year of experience in the field of upholstery and a demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.

Also, must be able to lift, handle, and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to discern color and pattern. Must be able to perform those items listed in the Job Summary descriptions in a timely manner. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Adherence to attendance requirements. Performance of the above listed essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations and in a timely manner; Adherence to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management; Maintenance of a clean and orderly work site including, but not limited to, the cleaning and securing of all tools and equipment; Performance of other job related duties as assigned.
