Detailed Job Description

The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an opening for a non-tenure track, renewable, twelve-month position as term Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology to serve as coordinator of our internship program, beginning immediately. The appointee will join a growing department that currently offers undergraduate majors in Criminal Justice, Gerontology, Social Services and Sociology and a minor in Anthropology.
 

Job Duties

The coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships between the Department and the organizations that provide placements for our students. In addition, s/he is the instructor for the three-credit courses that are connected to the students' internship experience and s/he serves as a liaison for part-time faculty in the Department.
 

Required Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience with college-level teaching and knowledge of governmental agencies, schools and non-profit organizations in Connecticut where students in our majors might complete their required internship placements. All candidates must possess at least a Master's degree in a related field at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates who possess both teaching and administrative experience.
