Detailed Job Description

Diagnoses and repairs workstations for end users using diverse network topologies and protocols. Maintains computers and ancillary equipment such as workstations, laptops, printers and scanners. Performs regular hardware maintenance. Researches and evaluates computer hardware, and software applications. Determines and recommends solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a career ladder position with three levels with minimum qualifications as defined:

Level 1: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent and one year of any combination of computer related education and/or technical support and customer service experience related to the Summary of Duties.

Level 2: Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and two years of any combination of computer related education and/or technical support and customer service experience related to the Summary of Duties.

Level 3: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent and three years of any combination of computer related education and/or technical support and customer service experience related to the Summary of Duties. Must have helpdesk experience for at least one year.

Knowledge

Knowledge of Mac OS and Windows OS platforms.
Knowledge of various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, power point, internet tools, email systems, and other general computer applications.

Skills

Technical skill troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and researching technical issues.
Skill with TCP/IP and application network protocols, operating system configuration, and anti-virus software.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Abilities

Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
Exposure to working in a customer service, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Highly self motivated with the ability to learn quickly.

Pay Range

$10.54 to $16.26 per hour
