Responsible for the daily operation of the climbing wall in the facility. Works open climbing times as scheduled, facilitates special groups, delivers belay test, and instructs basics clinics and other skill clinics when scheduled. Works independently and has responsibilities for the entire facility during open climbing including wall and front control station. Able to perform route setting duties with proficiency. Processes participant paper work, check-in and out, belay checks, instruction as needed. Performs visual and walk through inspections. Performs opening and closing procedures. Performs constant safety monitoring of all wall users and enforces proper technique and safety policies. Educates users on climbing wall policies and instructs belay classes and performs belay tests. Maintains professional and friendly attitude toward all climbing wall patrons. Demonstrates exceptional customer service. Operates POS system, cash register, and membership software efficiently. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent plus any special certifications and/or training required in field of specialty.
Knowledge of current best practices as set forth by the Climbing Wall Association.
Knowledge of route setting practices.
Proficiency in knot tying and belaying.
Skill in proper climbing form and technique.
Ability to teach wall users proper safety techniques and policies.
