Detailed Job Description

Miami University Department of Engineering Technology is accepting applications for an instructor/visiting assistant professor position in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. The department offers ETAC/ABET accredited bachelor's completion degree programs with concentrations in Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology; and associate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. In addition, the department offers a new bachelor's completion degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. The department is part of the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences of Miami University and is based on Miami's open-admission regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, Ohio.


The successful candidate will be housed on the Hamilton campus and teach both laboratory and lecture-based undergraduate courses. Possible topics include all or most of the following: instrumentation and control, robotics and mechatronics, industrial automation, dynamics and computer-aided manufacturing. Courses are offered during the day, evenings and delivered by Interactive Video Distance Learning (IVDL) and web.
The candidate is also expected to advise new and current students; develop curriculum; actively engage in outreach programs to community colleges, businesses and industry to promote our degree programs. The appointment begins August 2015.

Basic Qualifications

Master of Science (for appointment as Instructor) or PhD (for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, engineering technology or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant and technologically current industry experience; Professional Engineering License; postsecondary teaching experience.
