Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Valley View Supervisor will assist in the management of all aspects of the Valley View Cafeteria. Assist in the management of duties of employees and their variety of tasks. Responsible for the functional needs of the cafeteria which may include: scheduling, hiring, training, and evaluation of student employees. Assume management responsibilities in the absence of the Valley View Supervisor.

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities: Maintain and follow up on assigned duties and responsibilities of student employees.
Train new employees as to individual responsibilities.
Evaluate and recommend personnel needs and advancements as well as concerns within the department and other assigned duties.
Maintain functionality and sanitation of the cafeteria to ensure Board of Health and Dining Services health and safety standards are met and kept.
May oversee cash handling procedures, ensure funds are correctly accounted for and deposited properly.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree plus one year of experience in a related field or any combination of education and/or experience related to the position classification summary totaling a minimum of three years.

Must have or be willing to obtain a current Utah County Food Handlers permit or Servsafe Food Managers Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior food experience in quality and/or high volume establishment desired.


Knowledge of the operations of management of the food service.


Ability to plan, organize, manage, supervise, and direct the activities of food production, cash operations, service, and cleanliness.
Interpersonal, problem solving, and decision making skills.


Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
Ability to meet and work with the public in a way that is consistent with the overall mission of Dining Services.
Ability to work independently with minimum direct supervision with knowledge of proper culinary methods, and standards; attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks at once.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, handle strenuous physical work with lifting, pushing and pulling of objects over 40lbs.

Pay Range

$9.49 to $11.86 per hour
