Detailed Job Description

Write, develop, adapt, and premier plays for young actors and audiences, including the annual summer camp youth production company play; facilitate contests and workshops for youth playwrights; provide outreach and dramaturgy support for mainstage and touring productions for young audiences; conduct workshops with educators, children, and youth on playwriting and/or the associated crafts of storytelling and dramaturgy; present innovative approaches to playwriting and play development to the field of theatre and children and youth through live and online presentations and publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a closely related field plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in Theatre or a related field.


Experience with and understanding of the crafts of playwriting and play development and the theatre production process.


Skill in playwriting validated by local, regional, and national recognitions.
Skill in new play and production dramaturgy and the application of storytelling in writing a theatrical work.
Computer skills in word processing and blogging.
Communication skills including email, voicemail, and telephone


Ability to communicate effectively with directors, actors, designers, producers, actors (including child and youth), and young audiences

Pay Range

$13.01 to $16.26 per hour
