Detailed Job Description

The Research Office assists Faculty and Students in their efforts to secure research funding and ensures the proper stewardship of those funds once awarded. The Administrative Assistant supports the Executive Director and Research Office staff in various activities related to new program development, early stage administration of new programs and grants, special events and publications. This position will be the first point of contact for those seeking the services of the Research Resource Center. The Administrative Assistant must communicate both verbally and in writing, provide attentive, friendly, courteous service to faculty, staff, administrators, and a wide range of collaborators and sponsors from outside the institution, and exhibit a high level of self-initiation and demeanor appropriate to the role.  


Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy in all interactions and communications.

Ability to effectively interpret and prioritize request for information and respond promptly, as needed.

Ability to manage and monitor budgets and logistical arrangements.

High level of functionality in the use of applicable software (i.e Microsoft Office Suite, MS Powerpoint) Willingness to learn additional applications (i.e Adobe Creative Suite, Apple Keynote, Filemaker Pro)

Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work in a high impact, deadline-oriented environment where initiative, attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously is required.

An aptitude for and interest in learning/utilizing new technologies.

A positive attitude and the ability to relate well to diverse populations and to help foster a community environment.

A sense of flexibility, agility, and willingness to perform a variety of tasks and duties.

Experience working in a research office environment a plus.
