Detailed Job Description

This individual will collaborate with the VirtuOHSU Medical Director and Associate Program Director to develop and oversee all program activities, including lab administration, curriculum development, financial management, grant acquisitions, and facilities support. This position is responsible for maintaining level 1 accreditation with the American College of Surgeons. This individual serves as the primary event planner of the annual Department of Surgery golf tournament and dinner auction.
In addition to the administrative duties of the Program Director, this position also serves as an instructional skills lab coach for medical student and resident skills labs. This position takes a lead role in overseeing daily skills center courses including general support and supervision, curriculum development, lab set-up, resource acquisition, surgical skills instruction of simulation equipment, and proctoring skills assessment.
 Bachelors of Science Degree (Master’s Degree Preferred).
 Experience in a laboratory or operating room.
 Four years of experience as an executive assistant, administrative analyst, researcher or administrative officer which included administrative duties, provision of technical assistance, or operations review. Two of the required years must have included administration or oversight of an on-going project or program.
 Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with residents, faculty, staff, and all levels of management.
 Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word and website development and maintenance.
 Ability to learn surgical techniques as taught and requested by faculty.
 Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology.
 Event planning experience.
