Detailed Job Description
The Major Gifts Officer will work with the Foundation development team to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects and will manage and grow the Foundation's current and planned giving program. He or she will work with other development staff and appropriate Board committee members to plan and execute a successful and annual gala event which involves soliciting local businesses and individuals for sponsorship support.
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 3 years fundraising or related experience, preferably at an educational institution.
Experience soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts.
Demonstrated knowledge of institutional advancement (alumni, community relations, fundraising strategies, planned giving).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes travel to accommodate the needs of the College and Foundation.
Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills, including the ability to anticipate needs and issues.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and with attention to accuracy, details and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as are excellent interpersonal skills.
Masters Degree and/or Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) a plus.
Proficiency with donor database software (Raiser's Edge).
