Job Description:

Bunker Hill Community College is seeking an Executive Director to provide leadership and administration of Bunker Hill Community College’s Workforce Development, the Community Center for Entrepreneurship, and Community Education.  This person will be the liaison with local, regional and State workforce and economic development agencies, and serve as a collaborative partner with the academic deans and faculty.  The Executive Director will have the overall management of all administrative aspects of the Center, program development, and oversight of staff and faculty who coordinate and deliver corporate training, non-credit courses and youth programs.

The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial, creative, innovative, strategic thinker, with exceptional communication and leadership skills, who can motivate and mentor instructors and staff and engage others at the College as we strive to serve our community.  S/he will leverage the College’s academic expertise in order to provide non-traditional educational pathways which lead to personal growth and professional advancement for individuals in the communities served by the College.

Position Description:

  • Plans the development, and implementation of all courses and programs to ensure high quality learning opportunities are provided to meet the needs of the community at a cost effective level.
  • Develops, manages and monitors the department budget; monitors funds and tracks expenditures in accordance with established policies and procedures; ensures that revenue goals are met.
  •  Collaborates with the Division Deans to create programming and attainment of student learning outcomes.
  • Develops and implements the Center’s marketing plans utilizing different methods.
  • Works with staff to identify areas of opportunity for the development of courses and certificates in workforce development, lifelong learning and personal enrichment
  • Communicates the Center’s annual goals and accomplishments to the BHCC community and other stakeholders, coordinates and collaborates with Academic Deans, Creative Services, and Budget Director to achieve the Center’s goals.
  • Seeks quality third party education providers and leverages the College experience to offer a range of programs.
  • Collects and maintains data for internal reporting and the attainment of Workforce Training Incentive Fund dollars.
  • Leads an effort to develop, implement and market a wide range of contract training programs for a diverse client audience, including corporations, non-profit organizations, government agencies, business, industry and community organizations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and practices in the field and supports the professional development of the staff.
  • Establishes and supervises the programs’ business and industry advisory committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Professional Studies


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, organizational development, administration or related workforce field.
  • 5-10 years of direct experience in professional management in a corporate or academic setting.
  • Understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.
  • Knowledge of workforce, education and training policies and programs, and economic, employment, industry and occupational needs.
  • Demonstrated superior leadership, planning, project management and supervisory skills.
  • Success in developing and implementing outreach programs in diverse communities.
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders including students, funders, state agencies, faculty, staff, and business enterprises.
  • Ability to recognize College-wide priorities and work cooperatively and collaboratively to support their accomplishment.
  • Financial management skills including budget reporting and data analysis experience.
  • Ability to market programs and ideas; to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; to establish positive community relationships.
  • Knowledge of computer-based office systems and experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and related software.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven management of instructors/trainers/staff in a college or corporate setting.
  • Previous teaching experience in community education, corporate training or higher education.
  • Experience of working in a union environment.
  • Experience in grant writing and management.

Bunker Hill Community College is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at three satellite locations in the Greater Boston area. Recently re-certified as a Leader College by Achieving the Dream, BHCC is part of the Massachusetts public higher education system, which includes 15 community colleges. Founded in 1973, BHCC is the largest community college in Massachusetts, serving more than 14,000 students each semester across all modes of instruction. Additional Information

Salary Range: $ 100,000-105,000
