Teaches curriculum in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives in Theatre Arts programs.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an MFA in Costume Design or closely related area and five years experience teaching or closely related professional experience is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of subject matter and course content of the courses to be taught which may include courses emphasizing both theory and practice.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower division courses.
Knowledge of student management, motivation, evaluation; evaluation of (peer and self) instruction.
Knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation.
Knowledge of and expertise in current trends in education, engaged learning and service learning, learning technologies (e.g. digital technologies for classroom management and distance education), public presenting and report and grant writing.
Skill in effective instructional strategies and techniques.
Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students and instruction.
