Oversees the development and administration of SBDC’s capital acquisition program that facilitates SBDC clients’ access to capital resources. Develops and maintains relationships with capital resource providers within Utah and Wasatch Counties. Provides one-on-one capital acquisition advice and assistance to SBDC clients. Organizes and conducts capital acquisition seminars and other training for clients. Provides counseling services to pre-venture, emerging and existing small businesses. Understands and responds to the needs of businesses, focusing on: Assisting companies in need of new capital, helping companies identify new markets, assessing business’s issues and identifying solutions.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and one year of experience related to the summary of duties, OR a bachelor degree and five years of experience related to the summary of duties, OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling seven years. Three years of experience in small business lending and credit analysis including loan packaging preferred. Preferred business owner.
Substantial knowledge and experience in small business capital acquisition, specifically with the debt financing services industry.
Strong knowledge of capital acquisition organizations, programs and services for small business.
Knowledge of small business management areas which include: marketing, accounting, human resources, development of business plan, small business financing/funding/insurance sources, budgeting, selling or buying a business.
Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations pertinent to small businesses.
Knowledge of local and state business economic development leaders, organizations and networking.
Working knowledge of computer software programs including spreadsheets, SharePoint and Center IC.
Skill in small business loan packaging.
Skill in small business lending/credit.
Experience creating financial projections.
Strong marketing background.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience in financial analysis and knowledge of credit and lending practices.
Ability to collect, analyze, interpret and communicate financial information.
Ability to quickly identify key issues/elements within a capital acquisition situation.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects.
Ability to supervise center personnel to ensure accountability and performance requirements.
Ability to manage a multi-site program providing a variety of services and functions.
Ability to deal effectively with the public and maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Ability to comply with federal, state and local policies, procedures laws and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively and manage personnel of various background and skill sets.
Analytical and report writing skills.
Ability to market SBDC services to and connect with the small business community, UVU, service providers, and lenders.
