The Principal Data Warehouse Developer/Administrator provides technical leadership, designs and develops enterprise reporting infrastructures including star schemas, PL/SQL functions and data views.

This individual possesses strong development knowledge of Informatica Power Center and the ability to develop in Oracle PL/SQL and tune SQL statements against Oracle databases. They also have a knowledge of Cognos and Framework Manager.

This individual will manage metadata, create and monitor the ETL process using a tool based approach, and to work with Systems and Data Administration Professionals to ensure proper functioning of hardware and software necessary for Enterprise Reporting.

The Principal Data Warehouse Developer/Administrator conducts formal and informal training to improve Key Users capacity to turn data into business intelligence, and promotes initiatives that will heighten the value and usefulness of institutional data.

This individual mentors and participates in the professional development of junior staff. In addition, the incumbent may, depending on nature of experience, assume administrative leadership and daily support of the reporting environment and/or conduct research and analyses to support executive decisions and inform strategic planning at the University.

This individual is competent to assume managerial and technical responsibility for major projects, including scheduling and managing resources, monitoring progress, providing regular status updates and assessment.

The position requires proficiency in all phases of the software development cycle, and demonstrated ability to stay abreast of emerging technologies and tools, to be a self-starter in matters of professional development, with an interest in working successfully in groups in both leadership and supportive roles.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Manage the ongoing conversion of existing PL-SQL based ETL to Informatica ETL environment.

Lead design and build of interfaces using the Informatica data hub, and Informatica Power Center.

Support the enterprise Cognos Framework and reporting environment.

Design and build data objects and reporting environments.

Manage enterprise reporting.

Engage in systematic outreach with user community to develop data definitions and data use policies, to identify information needs, and to assess existing reporting tools and structures.

Teach and mentor others.

Participate in the development of departmental goals, strategies, priorities, policies and procedures related to data access and reporting.  

Position Qualifications

Minimum of a BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline required (higher degrees or certifications in related discipline preferred).

Minimum of seven years of experience developing and supporting Informatica based ETL/Integration environments.

Minimum of seven years of experience developing and supporting data warehouse environments.

Strong programming skills (preferably SQL, PL/SQL, Java) and technical aptitude.

Extensive relational database experiences (preferably Oracle), strong problem solving and analytic skills and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong communication skills - this position must interact effectively with technical and non-technical users.

A good listener with patience and respect for non-technical users is required.

Certifications in Informatica Administration and project management (PMP) preferred.

Knowledge of Informatica Power Exchange and Informatica Salesforce Connector a plus.

Previous knowledge of Oracle Warehouse Builder and Cognos Framework Manager, and Cognos enterprise administration.
