Detailed Job Description

Position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and will teach 15 credit hours per semester primarily in the Administrative Office Assistant Program (AOAP).

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching AOAP classes that prepare individuals for positions in administrative support careers, as well as other classes within the School of Business. Plan and implement educational activities to ensure that student learning outcomes are consistent with program learning outcomes and the mission of the College. Responsibilities will include advising students; developing and revising instructional materials and courses as appropriate; assisting in recommending and mentoring part-time faculty; remaining professionally current; building relationships with businesses and transfer colleges to be sure program requirements meet expected outcomes; and working with various college committees and student organizations as assigned. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in business education for instructional purposes, current computer hardware and software used in today’s workplace, and applied information technology and online database systems. Instructors are expected to contribute to the College’s assessment and outcomes guidelines. The instructor will maintain five office hours per week. Day and evening classes may be required as well as possible teaching online and/or at one of our two college centers. The School of Business programs are accredited through Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ASBSP).


Master’s in Business Education, Business Administration or closely related field and two years of professional experience is required. Two (2) years of educational experience is required. Experience with online instruction and interactive instructional methods is highly desired. Excellent computer and communication skills required. The successful candidate will value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students and be highly motivated with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy.

Physical Requirements: varied standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs as related to office supplies, books or related equipment. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.

Starting Salary

Commensurate with educational background and teaching experience according to placement on the San Juan College salary scale.
