The Office of Human Resources at the University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for a Director of Human Resources. This is a full time, 12-month, exempt staff position.
The Director of Human Resources has administrative and supervisory responsibility for planning and managing the University’s human resources program in accordance with the policies, procedures, and practices of the University and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Areas of responsibility include recruiting, staff compensation and employee benefit administration, payroll, employee relations, training and development, risk management, human resources information systems, and policy administration. The director reports to the Vice President and General Counsel. The position has campus-wide impact and interacts with all faculty, staff, and administrators in a manner devoid of bias, discrimination, or preferential treatment to create an atmosphere wherein all employees can reach his or her full potential. The position frequently interacts with external administrative or regulatory agencies and organizations on behalf of the University.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, and seven (7) years of documented professional level experience as defined below. Documented professional level experience must be in multiple areas of traditional resource functions, including classification, compensation, benefits, employment, human resource development, and training. Demonstrated knowledge of the laws, regulations, and executive orders relating to human resource and affirmative action/equal employment opportunity issues and concerns. Demonstrated expertise in budget management and personnel supervision. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple and diverse constituencies with a strong customer service commitment. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement university-wide human resource programs, policies, procedures, and organizational initiatives. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and implement creative solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education. SHRM Certified Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) or other applicable professional certification.
