The Department of Interior Design is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor. The teaching responsibilities of this position include teaching and research in one of the following areas: building systems, sustainable design, lighting, or materials. The successful candidate will be an innovative leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills who thrives in a collaborative team environment. The position will commence August 15, 2015.
The Interior Design program has an integrated, holistic, team-based approach to design education. Faculty in the program actively engage in curriculum review, course development and the implementation of department initiatives such as bridging the program with other design institutions, associations and industry. The program is transitioning from a CIDA accredited Bachelor of Applied Interior Design degree to a Baccalaureate Interior Design degree program. The new BID program is anticipated to start in the Fall term 2015.
The Department of Interior Design & Art History currently offers a Bachelor of Applied Interior Design degree program. The department is moving towards a Bachelor of Interior Design degree program that is more holistic. The ideal applicant will be able to teach courses at the introductory, intermediate and senior level and bring background, experience and strong skills in pragmatic and theoretical interior design.

Mount Royal University is a teaching focused institution, faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/service (TS) pattern has a focus on teaching and service. The teaching/scholarship/service (TSS) pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. Applicants interested in the TSS pattern should have the ability and intent to pursue a research program. There is an option to change work patterns after receipt of tenure.
