Detailed Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily operations of the maintenance personnel. Serving as a working supervisor, the incumbent will oversee construction, renovation, maintenance and repairs of the college's buildings/infrastructure. They will also assure all maintenance personnel are adequately trained and provided the appropriate provisions to meet the requirements of the college community.
High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized technical training in HVAC/R systems, construction, maintenance or electrical field required. Associate's degree or certification in a technical trade preferred.
Proven record of attendance and reliability required.
Ability to operate complex equipment such as a bucket truck, airlift, etc. required.
Ability to operate computer equipment including a computerized maintenance management system required.
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and oversee several projects simultaneously; demonstrated flexibility to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the college required.
Ability to tactfully and effectively interact with students, staff, faculty, vendors and the public. Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service required.
Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements:
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.
Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts and catwalks.
Ability to work in utility tunnels.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow
and slippery conditions.
Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
Ten years, progressively responsible, experience as a journeyman in HVAC/R systems, plumbing, electrical or carpentry field. Three years of experience as a lead mechanic required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Practical experience reading schematics and blue prints.
