This position exists to support the development and maintenance of academic history, registration, catalog, course scheduling, rooming, and general student module in the current Student Information System (SIS) and adhoc systems. This position uses an enhanced and cultivated sense of logic to interpret academic policies, procedures, and programs as it pertains to the Banner System. This position will assist in researching, testing, and documenting functionality of registration, catalog, schedule, academic history, general person, and other areas of the SIS. This position will provide training to academic departments, deans, department chairs, and other areas.
30% – Banner Catalog
Serve as data steward of the Banner Catalog module. Facilitate entry and updates of Banner catalog for undergraduate and graduate courses from curriculum assuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness. Conduct system audits using ad hoc reports.
25% – Course Scheduling, Rooming, and Term Setup
Works with the System Management area with course schedule development and rooming including working directly with the academic departments to coordinate schedule production and room assignments. This position will also build semester dates, calculate and create deadlines for all start, drop and NC dates for all the parts of term in registration for each semester, and helps with the overall term setup. Provides continuous training to the academic departments to promote accurate understanding, interpretation, and process for Banner course scheduling and rooming using the Events Management System.
15% – Banner System Testing
Will work with the System Developer to test the coding structure by running queries and analyzing report results for all-possible outcomes. Researches, resolves detected errors in the system, and documents real and potential problems. Ensures correct interpretation of results and/or explains how the system is functioning and why the expected results are not occurring.
10% – Data Requests and COGNOS Training
Generates data lists for internal and external constituents using COGNOS. Analyzes data to verify its integrity prior to dissemination. Typical data lists to be generated include general student information, rooming data, course data, and ad hoc data requested by MSU Denver faculty and staff. This position can also assist others to setup standard reports in COGNOS for daily use.
10% – Correcting system data
Works with Institutional Research in regards to data related issues. This includes, but is not limited to, data errors for NSLDS, IPEDS, and institutional reporting.
10% – Other Duties Assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, participation on various college wide committees and workgroups. Backup for the front counter, Veteran Education Benefits, and the registration and records area.
•Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience (one year of education is equivalent to two years of experience)
•At least 2 years work experience in Higher Education
•Computer skills that include Microsoft Office Suite.

•Experience working in Ellucian Banner or other SIS
•Experience analyzing data sets, trends, and extrapolating themes
