Detailed Job Description

The Department of Music in the College of Creative Arts at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Music Education beginning in the fall semester of 2015.


Duties will include: teaching undergraduate courses (e.g., introduction to music education, assessment, technology pedagogy, woodwind or brass methods); assisting in the supervision of student teachers and clinical experiences; developing online offerings; recruiting and advising music education students; active scholarship (publication, conference presentations) and related activity (workshops, in-service clinics); service to the institution. Summer teaching is a possibility.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctorate in music education by the time of appointment and must have demonstrated excellence as a public school teacher for at least three years.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates will have college teaching experience.
