Job Responsibilities


• Develops and monitors a comprehensive program of academic, advisement, career counseling and other support and financial aid services for a designated cohort of D3 students

• Develops and implements strategies to improve retention and performance of D3 students in collaboration with D3 advisors and career and employment specialists

• Implements academic interventions and other initiatives to improve students’ performance and retention

• Oversees recruitment of new students, including coordination with other college offices

• Evaluates program services and develops interventions for probation and at-risk students; makes recommendations to improve program offerings

• Oversees program’s budget and daily administration, including scheduling and timely delivery of services

• Establishes and maintains relationships with academic departments, including scheduling of D3 classes

• Prepares reports for college leadership, Ohio Board of Regents (OBOR), grant funding agency (Great Lakes), and grant study agency (MDRC).

• Attends required meetings with MDRC, CUNY, and college counterparts, as well as other periodic program-wide events

• Supervises a dedicated D3 advisement, career services, instructional and/or clerical staff

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or a minimum of two years of experience with student success and completion initiatives in higher education

• Demonstrated executive experience planning, assigning, scheduling, supervising and ensuring the quality of the work of others

• Demonstrated experience Forecasting, Planning, Maintaining, Preparing, and Monitoring a business area’s budget

• Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have significant, broad implications on the management and operations of a division (or equivalent business area)

• Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations

• Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to develop and implement creative strategic community development relations plan

• Possesses strong organizational and time-management skills

• Works accurately with great attention to detail

• Ability to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines in a dynamic environment

• Ability to promote collaboration, teamwork, and involve all stakeholders in decision-making processes

• Possesses sound understanding of the evaluation and data needs of education programs

• Possesses strong fiscal management skills as well as familiarity with fiscal requirements and budgets of sponsored projects

• Possesses understanding of the organization of public higher education systems and issues faced by urban-based community college students

• Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships

• Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of higher education success and completion theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

• Demonstrated advanced project management skills

• Demonstrated basic proficiency with Banner (or equivalent program)

• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity

• Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects

• Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects

• Ability to facilitate top-level collaboration while managing sensitive issues

• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

Preferred Qualifications


• Master’s Degree and/or a minimum of five years of experience with student success and completion initiatives in higher education

• Demonstrated experience with Banner system and SARS programs

Work Schedule

Normal work hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
