Job Responsibilities

• Assists faculty in the evaluation, selection and application of instructional technology and media to enhance teaching and learning, including but not limited to, interactive media, web-based course materials, digital video and traditional classroom instructional media
• Provides expertise in the appropriate pedagogical uses of technology
• Supervises the Instructional Support Specialist position and the development of tools and templates for the effective and thoughtful use of academic technology such as tutorials, reference materials, and announcements
• Ensures appropriate guidance and technical assistance is provided as needed to faculty through the stages of Instructional media development
• Assists with the development and delivery of technology-related faculty development workshops in collaboration with the Offices of Teaching, Learning and Academic Professional Development, Distance Learning, and Staff Training and Development
• Provides assistance to faculty in converting instructional materials form one delivery format to another
• Coordinates, prioritizes and manages the production of quality instructional materials developed by the Instructional Support Specialist
• Maintains access for faculty to the AEC’s by managing the physical space and upkeep of equipment and furniture
• Develops a monthly calendar of training or consultative opportunities in conjunction with the other AECs
• Measures the use and effectiveness of AEC services by routinely collecting and reporting on faculty use of, needs, and reaction to programs, materials and services
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• Minimum of three years’ experience integrating academic technology into teaching and learning in a higher education environment

• Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia instructional strategies
• Demonstrated success in consulting with full-time and adjunct faculty to encourage experimentation and integration of academic technology
• Demonstrated skills in multimedia production
• Excellent project management skills
• Familiarity with various specialized, instructional software
• Demonstrated success in developing and conducting one-on-one and group training opportunities
• Demonstrated skills with Adobe Acrobat, Presenter, Captivate, Camtasia, Blackboard, Adobe Connect, Respondus, Audacity, Macromedia Flas, Photoshop, or related applications
• Excellent consultative and written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to functionally supervise student employees assigned to the AEC
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the college level

• Demonstrated skill in multimedia production using Macintosh programs
• Familiarity with Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS)
