School of Business

Saint Leo University is one of the largest and most innovative Catholic universities in the United States. A leading provider of higher education to the military and a leader in online higher education, Saint Leo enrolls more than 16,000 students at the traditional University Campus (main campus), through the Center for Online Learning and at 20 regional centers in seven states.

The Department of Management is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track or non-tenure track (depending on qualifications), faculty position to teach management, logistics, general business, and project management courses online at our Tampa Center and Main Campus. Both locations are in the Tampa Area.

This is a twelve (12) month, year round, full-time faculty appointment with two (2) months release time to be determined in consultation with the department chair.

This position is pending final budgetary approval for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Review of candidate materials begins immediately for anticipated start date of August 2014. To apply, submit letter of introduction documenting successful teaching experience; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation (all should be professional references and at least one from a recent superior); values statement (500 words or less) and teaching philosophy (500 words or less), which highlights how your teaching and administrative philosophy and practices fit the Mission and Values of Saint Leo University; official transcripts (including WES evaluation if from an international university); and student evaluations from the last year (at least six classes, an even mix of graduate and undergraduate).

An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.

A candidate possessing a master’s degree with 18 graduate study hours in the discipline and demonstrated teaching with appropriate years of experience in higher education may be considered at the Instructor level.

Basic Function:

The faculty member will be required to:

  • Teach up to nine classes per year;
  • Advise students;
  • Assess, assist, and guide online adjunct management faculty under the direction of the department chair;
  • Engage in curriculum development;
  • Support recruiting efforts;
  • Demonstrate professional development and scholarly research);
  • Undertake community service in keeping with the school’s Benedictine values;
  • Teach on-ground, online; and
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate classes.
  • Be able to teach traditional and non-traditional age students; and
  • Demonstrate the ability to use discipline-related computer programs.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

Candidates who are ABD and individuals who possess an earned Masters’ Degree in Management or Business will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates possessing a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 hours of graduate study and/or credentials to teach management or business may be considered at the instructor level.

Preferred Qualifications:

A PhD in Management is preferred. A candidate with 18 credit hours in logistics and/or project management will receive first consideration.
