The Department of Education is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, faculty position to teach education courses in our elementary or middle grades Education programs at our Ocala center located in Ocala, Florida
Center Education Faculty members must demonstrate the unique skills of traditional faculty (teaching, mentoring) with the necessary administrative skills of facilitating the education programs at a center.
This is a twelve (12) month, year round, full-time faculty appointment with eight (8) weeks release time to be determined in consultation with the department chair.
Review of candidate materials begins immediately for anticipated start date of January 2015. To apply, submit letter of introduction documenting successful teaching experience; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation (all should be professional references and at least one from a recent superior); values statement (500 words or less) and teaching philosophy (500 words or less), which highlights how your teaching and administrative philosophy and practices fit the Mission and Values of Saint Leo University; official transcripts (including WES evaluation if from an international university); and student evaluations from the last year (at least six classes, an even mix of graduate and undergraduate).
An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.
A candidate possessing a master’s degree with 18 graduate study hours in the discipline and demonstrated teaching with appropriate years of experience in higher education may be considered at the Instructor level.
The faculty member will be required to:
•Teach 4-9 classes classes per year (as assigned);
•Assess, assist, and guide adjunct Education faculty under the direction of the department chair;
•Engage in curriculum development;
•Support recruiting efforts;
•Demonstrate professional development (e.g., scholarly research);
•Undertake community service in keeping with the school’s Benedictine values;
•Teach on-ground undergraduate education classes.
•Be able to teach traditional and non-traditional age students; and
•Demonstrate the ability to use discipline-related computer programs.
Doctorate degree in Education with a concentration or specialization in Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary or ESOL education.
Three or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
Candidates possessing a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 hours of graduate study and/or credentials to teach Education courses may be considered at the instructor level.
Successful teaching experience in higher education.
