The Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance within the Donald R. Tapia School of Business is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position to teach Accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. This position will be offered as tenure or non-tenure track depending on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. The position requires teaching evening and Saturday classes at our Chesapeake and South Hampton Roads Centers in Virginia. This position may also require teaching online.
This position requires teaching 9 courses over five 8-week terms and therefore is a twelve (12) month, year round, full-time faculty appointment with two (2) months release time to be determined in consultation with the department chair and center director.
This anticipated faculty appointment will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank with an anticipated start of January 2015.
An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.
The position requires engaging in curriculum development; supporting recruiting efforts; demonstrating professional development (e.g., scholarly research); undertaking community service in keeping with the University’s Benedictine values; teaching on ground and online; and teaching undergraduate and graduate classes.

The faculty member will be required to:
•Teach 9 classes per year;
•Advise students 10 hours per week;
•Assess, assist, and guide adjunct Accounting faculty under the direction of the department chair;
•Be able to teach non-traditional age students; and
•Have a commitment to active learning in the classroom.
This position may require teaching online and/or Saturday classes.
An applicant must possess a Doctorate degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited institution with credentials to teach Accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level per accreditation guidelines (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting).
Must be able to demonstrate excellence in the classroom (on-ground and online).

Military requirements mandate the final candidate must be a United States citizen in order to be granted access to Naval Amphibious Base where classes will be conducted.
