Under the general direction of the Vice President of Enrollment and Online Programs, the Assistant Vice President of Instructional Technology (AVPIT) will lead a team of professionals who support teaching and learning activities through the effective use of technology. The AVPIT will manage all instructional technology development activities to provide information, advice, education and guidance to faculty and the university administration on all matters related to instructional technology. The AVPIT will be knowledgeable of the latest technologies and tools available as well as trends and innovations in the field.
Oversee the development of engaging and dynamic online courses. Provide guidance on course selection, oversee course scheduling, and lead faculty training in a common pedagogical model. Define and develop measures to collect data for use in determining the effectiveness of the instructional technology functions in its support of teaching and learning.
Manage an instructional design team of approximately 20 professional staff members in the production of online courses guided by policies and procedures which include; monitoring, tracking, analyzing, measuring, and surveying for student and faculty satisfaction.
Draft and execute strategic plans related to learning innovations, faculty development, and online course delivery. Prepare and recommend budgets for the university as it relates to instructional technology tools, equipment and multimedia innovations.
Build faculty awareness and knowledge of emerging and available instructional technology and tools. Educate and assist faculty in development of quality content including such activities as, mapping content to curriculum requirements, analyzing learning styles, reviewing methods for design of instructional materials for online, blended, video conferencing or conventional classroom environments.
Plan and execute pilot programs to improve efficiency and effectiveness of student learning which includes adaptive learning, instruction through interrupted reading, and e-book integrations.
Participate in strategic and execution committees related to mobile learning, cost of textbooks, information technology infrastructure, MOOCs, academic excellence, and teaching competencies. Represent Saint Leo University in various organizations, meetings, conferences.
Six (6) or more years of experience in instructional design, educational technology or related field.

3.Proven ability to educate and develop faculty in the effective use of technology.
4.Knowledge of and experience in using course management systems, multimedia tools and authoring software.
5.Knowledge of and experience in the use of video conferencing and streaming content systems for educational purposes.
6.Knowledge and understanding of trends in higher education, such as distance learning, faculty development, dealing with millennial students, etc..
7.Strong administrative and organizational skills.
8.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9.Demonstrated values of excellence, respect, integrity, stewardship, community and personal development.
A master’s degree, preferably in education or instructional design, from a regionally accredited college or university Prior experience in teaching at the college level

Six (6) or more years of increasing levels of leadership experience in instructional design, educational technology or related field.
Earned a doctorate level degree from a regionally accredited institution.
