Detailed Job Description
Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor; anticipated start date of August 2015.
The position includes teaching responsibilities primarily in the Interior Design B.F.A. program, as well as in the Architecture B.A. program, student advising, and other student engagement responsibility within the Department; develop and/or continue a research, scholarship and/or creative achievement program that includes appropriate dissemination, extramural funding, and contribution to the field; engage in departmental service and curricular discussions, as well as service to the university, profession and/or community and work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals. Current full time teaching responsibilities typically include a 5 - 6 credit design studio, plus a lecture- or seminar-based technical, history, theory, criticism, or other required courses.
Earned master's degree (e.g., M.I.D., M. Arch, M.S., M.A., M.F.A.); effective interpersonal, written, and verbal skills; ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the missions of the Department of Architecture + Interior Design and Miami University.
Applicants considered for Associate Professor rank must possess a well-established reputation as a scholar and/or professional, and demonstrate a high degree of teaching proficiency and commitment, in additon to significant public, professional or University service.
Strong candidates will hold a professional degree in Interior Design, or NCIDQ certificate, or have the capability to obtain an NCIDQ certificate within three years; demonstrated experience in studio-based teaching as well as lecture- or seminar-based teaching; demonstrated professional practice experience; professional registration.
