Metro State seeks an energetic and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the first CAVEA (Center for Advanced Visualization & Experiential Analysis) Director. The CAVEA is designed to serve the mission of the College by providing leading-edge, experiential education opportunities to students, promoting the development and research of faculty, and serving the community in ways that address pressing urban problems. The Director will provide leadership and oversight in creating an environment for local and regional leaders in government, nonprofit agencies, and private business, as well as faculty and students, to benefit from the immersive visualization environment in support of good decision making. The Director will develop and support the use of the CAVEA in each of these areas, including the coordination and development of projects and partnerships across the College's academic, research, and development areas. The Director will report through the President to the Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and to the Vice President of Advancement and External Relations.
About the Center for Advanced Visualization and Experiential Analysis (CAVEA)
Metro State is excited about the addition of the CAVEA, an immersive visualization environment and a new tool integral to our efforts to advance the mission of the College. The CAVEA will be a dynamic solutions hub for local and regional government officials, non-profit agencies, and private business leaders; it will model decision-making options and policy implementation consequences - good and bad, intended and unintended. The CAVEA will be a unique state and regional resource that enables participants to make better decisions. At the core of the CAVEA is a unique opportunity to visually immerse participants in useful data which helps to foster and facilitate ideas in a rational, creative, and impartial environment. Using a technology-based, decision-making process, the CAVEA will allow users to visualize data and the results of their collaborative decisions, thanks to sophisticated real-time computer modeling.
The CAVEA will also serve to educate our students in at least two critical ways. First, students and faculty will be engaged in running the technology required for the CAVEA to serve as a dynamic solutions hub; through courses, internships, and institutional employment opportunities, students will gain invaluable knowledge and experience in using its state-of-the-art technology. Second, faculty will have the opportunity to design courses and to pursue research opportunities dependent on the problem-solving opportunities afforded by the CAVEA.
