Director, Research, Outcomes, Assessment, and Institutional Effectiveness
Doctorate preferred, Master’s degree required from an accredited college or university in Social Sciences, Business, Economics and course work in statistics, research design/analysis, and experience in institutional planning, assessment planning, program evaluation, and institutional research. Experience with standards of accreditation/reaffirmation. Background in research methods and quantitative statistics.
Essential Job Summary:
The primary function of the Office is to act as the strategic planning, assessment coordination, college-wide initiatives and research arm for the College and the Office of the President. Other key functions include strategic planning and budget, internal and external reporting and accountability and quality assurance in terms of institutional effectiveness and accreditation standards.
Daily Performance Responsibilities:
Coordinate data collection, organization and analysis for publications and grant applications. Performs analysis and reports the results to the appropriate position and develops report formats. Provides analytical support and advice in the design of survey research. Interprets results and trends using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via descriptive statistical analysis to complex data mining and advanced statistical analysis. Provides status reports on on-going projects. Ensures proactive data collection methodology in accordance with industry requirements, standards and trends. Accurately extract, organize, verify, summarize and archive data for the College in support of the Office's longitudinal trend analyses, fact sheets, and other institutional data needs. Ensure that information is available, accurate and updated in a timely manner.
The Assessment and Data Analyst/Associate will assist with the development of multi-year archives of institutional and survey data. Prepare, update and expand the collection of comparative data and peer indicators. Conduct and coordinate the collection, analysis, and reporting of data as needed for internal and external entities including but not limited to student recruitment, enrollment, retention, graduation rates, admissions, and financial aid. Aid in collection and analysis of data for mandatory reporting. Complete and submit in timely fashion institutional reports to IPEDS, and other agencies as directed. Assist in providing leadership for data-based evaluation and assessment.
This position will also respond to ad-hoc requests for institutional data or policies; internally or from external individuals or organizations. Assist in the development and direct research and planning activities for institutional effectiveness, administrative service units, educational programs, student services units and assists as directed in determining measures and continuous improvement of the College. Work with faculty and academic administrators to plan, design, and implement ongoing assessment of student learning outcomes for the improvement of teaching, learning, and instructional programs and services. Assist academic support units with the assessment of learning support activities / initiatives and related student learning outcomes. Coordinates and conducts as directed research efforts with other college offices and personnel. Research, plan, evaluate, and recommend new program opportunities for the College. Composes correspondence and generates reports.
Another key function of the Assessment and Data Analyst/Associate will be to Assist in the coordination of the College's accreditation process and monitors operations of departments/functions of the College to ensure compliance with the standards of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as well as other accrediting agencies; also provides support for discipline-specific and professional accreditations. Assists in the development of quality enhancement plans, program review, survey research and assessment. Maintain office files and provide office administrative support as needed. Provide strong quantitative and computer skills, databases and presentation graphics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must create and maintain management of data systems as directed and act as the office data clearinghouse as well as offer technical support as needed within the office. Ability to organize, analyze and summarize data and information for multiple audiences. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse constituencies and contribute to a team-based environment. Ability to handle confidential materials discreetly and professionally on a routine basis. Excellent time management skills, ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize workflow in order to meet deadlines. Must work well with others.
